On July 26, 2024, United of Omaha Life Insurance Company (“Mutual of Omaha”) filed a notice of data breach with the Attorney General of California after discovering that an employee email account was compromised. In this notice, Mutual of Omaha explains that the incident resulted in an unauthorized party being able to access consumers’ sensitive information, which includes their names, Social Security numbers, contact addresses, dates of birth, driver’s license numbers, employment information, and health information. Upon completing its investigation, Mutual of Omaha began sending out data breach notification letters to all individuals whose information was affected by the recent data security incident.
